Your attitudes towards yourself and others are major factors in your success. They will either stimulate or stifle your creativity, your progress, and your ability to relate to other people. Your attitude is your advance person. It walks into a room before you do and is generally several feet in front of you. It shouts who and what you are louder than you know.

But what is an attitude? An attitude is a tendency to characteristically react to people, situations or things in a certain way. You have feelings about how you think things should be, how you think people should act, and how you think situations should be handled. You’ve thought this way for a long time. It’s now a firm belief – it’s the way you think – it’s a habit of thought.
These habits of thought – attitudes – set off a chain reaction that determine the outcome of all you do. What you think about a situation will cause you to adopt a certain attitude about it; that attitude will then prompt you to behave or act in a certain way; how you behave will then determine what kind of results you get. Thus, attitudes and results are directly related – the natural law of cause and effect.
It would seem, then, that in order to improve your results you would need to change your attitude. But in order to change an attitude, you must be willing to sit down and have a heart-to-heart, inside-out, look at yourself.
Attitude change is a result of internal understanding and acceptance. Think consciously and carefully about the values by which you want to live. Believe in yourself and your abilities. Dream about the way things could be and the person you could become, and then dare to take the action necessary to make your dreams reality.
